【About Japanese Sumi ink & the SUMIBISHIN®︎ hanging scroll】


【墨 ~About Sumi ink】

Sumie is the art of drawing with a brush on white paper.
It's the use of Sumi ink that creates the beautiful black and grey tones in sumie.
Sumi is composed of soot and aromatic substance are added glue, mixtured together into a solid piece.
To use it, you need to dissolve it in water.
Sumi ink is not prone to fading and the colour remains dark for a long time.

SUMIBISHIN®︎ is draw bluish black because it was used Sumi from pine soot.
Pine-soot Sumi is often used for Sumi ink painting because it gives painters a broader spectrum of shades to work with.

SUMIBISHIN®︎ is a beautiful being like a goddess drawn with Sumi-ink by Hoca Higuchi.
(SUMIBISHIN®︎ is a registered trademark of Hoca Higuchi.)

And "SUMIBISHIN®︎ kimono Kakejiku"  is a creative hanging scroll that uses kimono fablics is a new and unique form like no other.

Hoca Higuchi personally handles from the selection of the Kimono fabric to the mounting.

Also SUMIBISHIN®︎ Kimono hanging scrolls are designed to be displayed in Western-style rooms,
Finished so that it can be hung in a small space such as an entrance or hallway.
